Psychiatric patients have to manage in different medical settings (e.g. outpatient department, inpatient department, or emergency department). Psychiatric Patients may present with acute symptoms or chronic symptoms or prodromal symptoms.

Acute management may need physical restraint and/or biological restraint. Physical restraint of acute mentally ill patients has scientific procedures. Many antipsychotic drugs in injectable form may be given by intramuscular or intravenous route.

Chronic psychiatric patients may be present with an acute onset or may come with chronic presentations or residual symptoms.

Psychiatric management is a mainly psychological treatment, medications, and social treatment.
